About the release
Luz reimagines the original song Light, transforming its narrative into one of hope and redemption. This new version offers a more uplifting perspective, shifting the focus toward resilience and the enduring light within us.
Produced by Miguel Escobar (from PAB), Luz embraces a purely acoustic sound, enriched with intricate string arrangements that add depth and emotion. The song explores new sonic textures hinted at in the original, now brought to life with orchestral flourishes recorded by the renowned Yoed Nir. The sweeping string sections create dramatic, almost cinematic moments that elevate the song’s emotional impact.
Marking a milestone for PAB, Luz is the band’s first-ever Spanish-language single. The track is brought to life by Panamanian superstar Alejandro Lagrotta, whose powerful vocals and heartfelt delivery breathe new intensity into the lyrics. His passionate performance, combined with the song’s raw instrumentation, makes Luz a deeply moving experience—one that lingers long after the final note.

Inspiration and process
The heart of Luz is deeply rooted in the original song (Light), drawing inspiration from its character’s journey and the broader message of how our choices, environment, and inner struggles shape our destiny. This Spanish adaptation explores those themes even further, offering a new layer of depth and emotion to the story.
It was Alejandro Lagrotta who envisioned bringing Light into Spanish, ensuring that its powerful message resonated with a new audience. Collaborating with Miguel Escobar, they meticulously adapted the lyrics, preserving the original song’s cadence and tempo while refining them to flow naturally with the rhythm of this new version.
Marking a milestone in his career, Luz also represents the first time Miguel Escobar (PAB) stepped into the role of producer, guiding the track’s evolution with a fresh creative vision. The song’s raw emotion and orchestral grandeur were brought to life with the expertise of Brian Schueble as the mixing engineer, shaping Luz into a breathtaking and immersive listening experience.
Notable collaborations & credits
Alejandro Lagrotta, one of the creative forces behind Luz, was immediately struck by Light when he first heard it. He saw it as the story of a troubled soul who strayed down the wrong path, ultimately becoming the villain of his own story. However, we wanted to shift the narrative toward hope—a reminder that no matter how dark life gets, the light within us never truly fades, and there is always a chance for redemption and a brighter outlook.
Alejandro has made a lasting impact on the music scene, both as a singer-songwriter and as an arranger and co-writer through his company, TierraRoja Music. His work spans numerous hits, whether lending his voice, crafting melodies, or shaping soundscapes for other artists. One of our favorite projects is arranging Castillo de Papel for the Panamanian band Post, a song that showcases his unique musical touch and deep understanding of storytelling through music.
